Does the day you post on Facebook actually matter?
Barely. Your odds of a breakout are about the same on any day of the week.

"When is the best time to post?" is one of the most-asked questions in social media — and one of the least useful. We grouped 19,624 posts by the weekday they were published and measured the breakout rate: the share beating their page's median by 5x or more.
| Day posted | Beat baseline 5×+ |
|---|---|
| Monday | 8.5% |
| Friday | 8.4% |
| Wednesday | 7.5% |
| Saturday | 7.2% |
| Tuesday | 7.1% |
| Thursday | 7.0% |
| Sunday | 7.0% |
The whole range is 7.0% to 8.5% — a spread small enough to be noise. Yes, Monday and Friday look marginally better, but not enough to build a strategy on. If a post is going to break out, it does so on a Tuesday as readily as a Saturday.
The lesson isn't "timing never matters" — it's that timing is a tiny lever compared to the content. Spending your energy on the hook and the format beats optimising the clock. More on that in the study of 19,624 posts; read is there a best time to post, or test a post in the Baseline Beat Checker.
FAQ
What's the best day to post on Facebook?
Monday and Friday edge ahead in our data (about 8.5%), but the difference from the worst days (7.0%) is within noise. The day barely affects your breakout odds.
Should I optimise my posting time?
It's a small lever. Content that beats your baseline drives breakouts far more than timing does — put your effort into the hook and format first.
