Your page posts video only — three formats are earning nothing

Same page, same followers, no extra filming: photos, text posts and stories are part of the same monetization program as video.

Facebook pays for reels, photos, text posts and stories under one program — Content Monetization. A page that publishes video only uses one of four earning formats. Adding photos, text and stories gives the same audience more monetizable posts, without shooting anything new.

Most monetized pages we look at publish one thing: video. That is not a strategy, it is a habit — and it quietly caps what the page can earn, because three of the four paid formats never appear on it.

What the program actually covers

Meta states it plainly on its creators page: with Facebook Content Monetization you earn money on your reels, photos, text posts and stories. It is a single program — you do not enrol separately for each format. Earnings insights in the Professional dashboard then show which posts earn the most.

So the question is not which format is monetized. All four are. The question is which of them your page actually publishes.

Why one page can earn from several formats

Your followers are already there. Every post is a separate unit that can earn, and formats do not compete for the same slot: a reel travels through the reels surface, a photo or a text post travels through the feed, a story sits on top of the app for 24 hours. Publishing one format means the other surfaces simply never see your page.

Format 1 — photos

In our study of 19,624 public Facebook posts, photos made up roughly three quarters of everything published. Per post, video is stronger: 12.5% of videos beat their own page's baseline by 5× or more, against 6.3% of photos, with median engagement of 50 against 21. But a photo post costs minutes, not a shooting day — so you can publish far more attempts for the same effort. See the breakdown in video vs images.

Format 2 — text posts

The cheapest format there is, and the one almost nobody on a video page uses. Text works when the story carries itself: a short first-person account, a question your audience argues about, a list of things your niche gets wrong. No files, no editing, one paragraph and a line break.

Format 3 — stories

Stories keep the page alive on days when nothing big is published, and they cost almost nothing: a frame from the video you already made, plus one line of text. They are part of the same program, so the views count.

Check your page in two minutes

  • Open the Professional dashboard (or Meta Business Suite on desktop).
  • Go to the Monetization section and open earnings insights.
  • Look at earnings broken down by content type.
  • If everything sits in one row, the other three formats are at zero — that is your gap, and it is the fastest one to close.

A two-week plan to close the gap

  • Week 1. Keep your video schedule. Add three photo posts and two text posts. Use material you already have: a frame from a video with one strong line, a short story from the comments, a question to the audience.
  • Week 2. Same again, plus a story on every publishing day. Then compare earnings by content type — you now have data on your own page, not someone's opinion.

What kills it

  • Reused content. Reuploads, clips from other apps, other people's watermarks: Meta's non-original content enforcement cuts reach and removes monetization. Post your own originals — see what counts as unoriginal content.
  • Clickbait and engagement bait. Fastest way to lose the invitation you waited months for.
  • The same post on several pages. Duplicates are detected; a unique version per page is the minimum.

Adding formats is not a trick — it is the part of the program your page has not switched on yet. Whether we do it for you or you do it with Posteriks, the work is the same: original photos and texts, published on a page that already has the audience.

Add the formats your page isn't using

Facebook pays for photos, text posts and stories — the same program as video. A page that publishes one format only leaves the rest of the program switched off.

FAQ

Does Facebook really pay for photos and text posts?

Yes. Meta's creators page states that Facebook Content Monetization lets you earn on reels, photos, text posts and stories — one program covering all four formats.

Do I need a separate page for photos?

No. The point is the opposite: the same page and the same audience, with more monetizable formats on it.

Will photos hurt the reach of my videos?

They are different surfaces — reels travel through the reels feed, photos and text through the main feed. Adding a format adds posts; it does not take a slot away from video.

Where do I see what each format earns?

In the Professional dashboard: earnings insights show the breakdown by content type. That is also how you check whether the new formats are working on your page.

Can I use photos I found online?

No. Other people's images, watermarked files and reuploads fall under non-original content: reach is cut and monetization is removed. Use your own material or content licensed to you.
