How many likes is considered viral?

Likes only mean something next to what your account normally gets.

No fixed number of likes is viral on its own. A post is viral when its likes (plus comments and shares) run several times your account's median — usually 5× or more. 500 likes is a breakout for a page that averages 60, and an ordinary post for one that averages 800. Judge likes by the baseline multiple, not by a round figure.

Posteriks finds posts that beat their own account baseline in your niche and helps you build your own version — not a copy. Check your own post free →

Likes are also the noisiest single metric — comments and shares carry more weight with the algorithm. A sturdier read combines all three into one engagement number and compares it to your baseline.

FAQ

Is 1,000 likes viral?

Only relative to your median. For a small page it is a strong outlier; for a large one it may be below average.
